Asleep At The Switch: Scott Lee Cohen’s Checkered Past Slips By The DNC

Okay, I am not going to waste your time and report what is going on with Mr. Cohen. His life story has been in the media for the last few days. You and I know it forwards and backwards. I am not going to get in to the reasons why Cohen should drop out of the race or why he should stay in.

What I want to shed some light on the recklessness of the Illinois Democratic Party for failing to thoroughly evaluate and/or strongly consider criminal background information of a major candidate. Again, I do not want to get in to the issues of presumed guilt and the lack of a criminal conviction. Sad as it may be, the issue is that anyone with a small mountain of allegations of violence and physical abuse has enough baggage to cause a great deal of damage to an election campaign.

How could the Illinois Democratic Party allow something like this to happen? If this does not force voters to take an extra look at their options come this November, I will be very surprised.

I believe State Senator Jimmy DeLeo (who, according to my source, would leave Senate hearings if John DiFronzo’s underlings page him for some silly reason) will most likely get Scott Cohen a position when his bid for office ends. While he might make an excellent croupier, odds are Scott will be offered a job as a pawnbroker at the Excelsior Casino, the Aruba gambling den that DeLeo frequents as if he owns the place.
