Okay, I am not going to waste your time and report what is going on with Mr. Cohen. His life story has been in the media for the last few days. You and I know it forwards and backwards. I am not going to get in to the reasons why Cohen should drop out of the race or why he should stay in.

What I want to shed some light on the recklessness of the Illinois Democratic Party for failing to thoroughly evaluate and/or strongly consider criminal background information of a major candidate. Again, I do not want to get in to the issues of presumed guilt and the lack of a criminal conviction. Sad as it may be, the issue is that anyone with a small mountain of allegations of violence and physical abuse has enough baggage to cause a great deal of damage to an election campaign.

How could the Illinois Democratic Party allow something like this to happen? If this does not force voters to take an extra look at their options come this November, I will be very surprised.

I believe State Senator Jimmy DeLeo (who, according to my source, would leave Senate hearings if John DiFronzo’s underlings page him for some silly reason) will most likely get Scott Cohen a position when his bid for office ends. While he might make an excellent croupier, odds are Scott will be offered a job as a pawnbroker at the Excelsior Casino, the Aruba gambling den that DeLeo frequents as if he owns the place.

I believe the late Mayor Donald Stephens knew some gangsters back in the 1950s and ‘60s. The question is what does it mean when you know someone? I know Billy Parrillo, Founder, Chairman and President of Safeway Insurance. I have called him numerous times to suggest that he think of Holy Name Cathedral when donating money (which he has graciously done). However, I am sure if I called him and asked him for a personal loan he would hang up on me.

My point is that knowing someone does not necessarily mean much. I know many people, but does that mean I could do business with them or vice versa? Sure, anything is possible. Is it a guarantee that we are doing business together because we know each other? No. I have dealt with many different kinds of people in life, from Bishops to Mob bosses and I am neither in the clergy nor in the mafia.

The late Mayor Stephens knew many people, as he was the Mayor of Rosemont. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but unlike Illinois State Representative Angelo ‘Skip’ Fosco Saviano, who accepted numerous political donations from immediate sources of major Chicago Outfit leaders, I doubt the late Mayor Stephens had ever acted so irresponsibly. There is the difference in knowing someone and not doing business with them.

Politicians cannot help who they meet. They are always out in the public shaking hands and networking – it’s their job. However, they must exercise prudence when deciding whose money to accept and with whom they do business. My rule is if you are not ashamed to introduce someone to your mother, he or she is probably okay to do business with (assuming you’re not Ma Barker’s kid).

Several years ago it came out that a ‘confidential informant’ reported to Special Agent John Mallul that he or she witnessed Mayor Stephens meet with Chicago Outfit members in May of 1999 at the old Armand’s Restaurant in Elmwood Park, Illinois. Of the gangsters reported present at this magical meeting were John and Pete DiFronzo, Joe Lombardo, Rudy Fratto, Joe Andriacchi and Willie Messino. Whoever this ‘confidential informant’ is, either he or she is the greatest con artist of all time, or Agent Mallul is as naive as an eight year old kid.

Don Stephens would have immediately exited any location if he saw one of the gangsters named by this ‘confidential informant’. The idea that Stephens would take a seat at a table with these people is like imagining the Pope singing a duet with Puff Daddy at Crowbar Nightclub on orgy night. In addition, the lineup of gangsters said to be at the meeting would not be seen in public together with any politician, accept for fools like Illinois State Rep. Angelo ‘Skip’ Fosco Saviano and Illinois State Senator Jimmy DeLeo.

The Village of Rosemont’s connection to the Chicago Outfit is non-existent. Whatever occurred in the ‘50s and ‘60s is ancient news and was obviously innocent. The fact remains that the Outfit never operated any of their rackets in Rosemont in all the years Rosemont has been around. How many other towns in Chicagoland can say the same thing?

The following is a public service announcement.

ATTENTION PUBLIC: River Grove, Illinois resident, John “No Nose” DiFronzo, (address: 8065 West Grand Avenue, River Grove, Illinois, DOB: 12-13-1928) Boss of the Chicago Outfit, is hereby declared a SERIAL KILLER!

Serial Killer DiFronzo frequents the Loon Café (2826 North Thatcher Avenue, River Grove). I have witnessed how the employees and regulars treat DiFronzo. One would never know that DiFronzo is a serial killer because the people that surround him do not recognize DiFronzo for what he really is because he dons a mask of sanity.

The public must treat DiFronzo the way Gacy and Dahmer would be treated. In fact, that would be even less lenient, given John DiFronzo is much worse than these other serial killers were. The length and breadth of DiFronzo’s career as a killer would make Gacy and Dahmer blush. DiFronzo has been mutilating people before Dahmer was born. Gacy was still plotting his first sodomy in high school when DiFronzo already mastered the art of slicing and dicing human body parts.

The worst part is that DiFronzo continues to get away with it.

To think that Patrick Fitzgerald, the toughest federal prosecutor in the land, gave DiFronzo a pass during the Family Secrets trial is enough to make me consider circulating a petition asking the President to replace him as U.S. Attorney for Northern Illinois. Pulling Blago out of his home at 6 a.m. was far less important than ignoring incriminating testimony in the Family Secrets trial linking DiFronzo to a double murder. The U.S. Attorney’s Office has clearly abetted a killer. The U.S. Attorney’s Office should have indicted DiFronzo the second the jury decided the testimony of Calabrese was credible.

Several police officers like Melrose Park Police Chief Vito Scavo will kill for DiFronzo. According to Outfit member Joey DeVita, current Melrose Park Police Chief Sam Pitassi would kill for him or John DiFronzo (figuratively speaking). Cook County Judges like Joe Casciato have looked in on cases that pertained to DiFronzo in order to protect this madman. State Senator (and friend of President Obama’s) Jimmy DeLeo and Representative Angelo ‘Skip’ Fosco Saviano would get on their knees and – never mind – if DiFronzo told them to. A licensed medical doctor, Joseph L. Giacchino, Jr, MD, would do anything for DiFronzo. Billionaire Dickie Parrillo would probably be proud if Johnny called upon him for a favor, and I think he would honor it.

Gacy and Dahmer lacked these powerful connections. Perhaps if Gacy and Dahmer had power with the local cops, they would still be killing like DiFronzo.

I do not know what more I can do or say to explain how deadly of a human being Johnny DiFronzo is, not to mention the dozens of thugs and Outfit killers DiFronzo can turn to for assistance!

Everyone at the Loon Café please be careful! The mainstream media does not care about you. All they want to do is make a celebrity out of this serial killer – John DiFronzo – to boost viewers. KTF Media is more concerned with getting this murderer off the streets. Be safe!

The Duff Family, who were dear friends and close union associates of my late relative Jack ‘Romie’ Nappi, are purported to be extremely close with Mayor Richard M. Daley. For those of you that do not know of the Duffs, they are the bosses of a labor union that represents the men and women of liquor distribution in the Chicago area. By occupying this particular corner of clout in Cook County, it is not hard to believe that the Duffs were familiar to the Daleys as well as the Chicago Outfit. The late Jack Duff was doggedly loyal to Anthony Accardo (aka, Joe B) and would bark on the late Chicago Outfit Boss’ command.

Evidence of Daley’s fondness for the Duff Family can be found in the Mayor’s public remarks about them when the indictment for minority contract fraud against Jimmy Duff came down several years ago. Mayor Daley defended the Duffs’ company by confirming the work they were paid for was done well. To most people this may seem unimportant. On the contrary, Daley usually cuts all ties with scandal-ridden friends when the negative publicity presents itself. Daley stood strong for the Duffs, which makes his actions on this matter quite significant.

The Duffs frequent the Loon Café in River Grove, Illinois, a known hangout for people like current Chicago Outfit Boss John DiFronzo. My pal Michael Magnafichi, son of late Outfit Capo Lee Magnafichi, is very close with the Duff Family and has been for many years, dating back to Michael’s childhood. It was explained to me by a source that Michael’s late father, Lee Magnafichi and John DiFronzo killed a man to eliminate competition in one of the Duffs’ many union elections several years ago.

We have also learned that Jack Duff Jr. showed up at the Bensenville house while the Spilotro killings were taking place. The house was owned by Lee Magnafichi’s brother-in-law, Jimmy Tomaselli (aka Jimmy T), who currently works as a vice president for Southern Wine and Spirit. Apparently, Jack Jr. was given a pass by Lee Magnafichi, sparing Duff his life as long as he kept his mouth shut, which he did until the bodies turned up in Indiana several days later. Jack Jr. then told a number of friends and family members, who have known about the real Spilotro murder story for the last 20 years. I cannot believe that it took as long as it did to reach law enforcement. I take my hat off to Dr. Pat Spilotro who dedicated decades of his life to catching his brothers’ killers, but I cannot get over the great deal of time it took for him to accomplish his goal.

For the record, I do believe that Dr. Spilotro is wrong in accusing Joe Lombardo of taking part in the decision to kill his brothers, but what is my opinion worth?

I believe it was the Chicago Sun Times that referred to the White House as Chicago’s 51st Ward. Above we have outlined Daley’s purported connection to the Chicago Outfit. We who read John Kass’ column know that Illinois State Senator Jimmy DeLeo and Illinois State Representative Angelo ‘Skip’ Fosco Saviano are desperate to maintain their association with Chicago Outfit Boss Johnny DiFronzo. Now let us ask ourselves, are there close mutual connections between Daley, DeLeo, Saviano and Obama? My opinion is yes. I feel no reasonable person could disagree.

I know a man by the name of Michael. He can golf better than anyone I’ve ever met. According to many women, he is a very handsome fellow. I think he has a great sense of humor and can be very charming. He can certainly be the life of the party without even trying. He has been a dear pal of mine for a number of years.

Tragically, Michael was affected by negative influences early in his life. The root of this negative influence is the late Chicago Outfit Boss Jackie Cerone. Michael, who already had a wonderful dad of his own, came to think of Jackie as a second father figure. Jackie loved Michael as if Michael was his own son.

Michael served Cerone as an apprentice. The two were together night and day for nearly 10 years. This makes for an extraordinary circumstance. Jack Cerone is one of the most powerful Mob Bosses of all time. Michael experienced first-hand what mob-watchers could only dream about. During those years Jackie and Michael spent together, it was a common occurrence for Michael to find himself among people that most others could only read about. Some of these people include, Joe B (Anthony Accardo), Joe Aiuppa, Gus Alex, John DiFronzo and Willie Messino, Sr. In 1981 Michael even had a chance to meet Meyer Lansky, courtesy of his patron Jackie.

Michael was once of the largest bookmakers that Chicago had ever seen, though I believe that he has been retired from such illegal activity for at least 10 years. In the days when Michael was at the top of his game, you would never see him in the same threads twice. He certainly possessed a style and flair that most could only dream of. As a young man he had expensive automobiles and two thousand dollar sports coats, and was always surrounded by throngs of gorgeous women. He was so successful that, before turning 30, Michael managed to acquire one million dollars in cash that he tucked away in his safety deposit box.

Stuff like this made men like Rudy Fratto, Jr. sick to their stomachs with jealousy.

Most people that knew of Michael thought of him as the prince of the City of Chicago. State Senators like Jimmy DeLeo were at Michael’s beck and call. Judges like Joe Casciato, and others like him in boss Johnny DiFronzo’s pocket, gave Michael carte blanche. There was little this man could not accomplish. He was so influential that in the late 90s the Chicago Crime Commission listed Michael (with a slightly misspelled last name) as a Lieutenant for the Chicago Outfit.

As time passed tensions rose between Michael and John DiFronzo, the man who would eventually come to run the Outfit. Michael lost a lot of respect for DiFronzo when it became clear that John had little respect for Jackie Cerone and Michael’s father, Lee. This drove John and Michael increasingly apart.

While a personal conflict between him and the head of the Chicago Outfit could certainly have spelled ruin for Michael, his greater enemy would prove to be his own sense of responsibility to his friends and family.

Joseph Fosco and Michael G. Magnafichi
Michael’s big heart is what actually compromised his position in life. Michael gave his friends whatever they needed. Like a true Robin Hood, he took from wealthy people that he considered bad people, like Jack P. Cerone, Esquire (son of Jackie Cerone), so he could take care of good, albeit less fortunate, people. While Michael has no love for Jack P. Cerone, he feels a great deal of love for Cerone’s estranged wife Judy and her four daughters. In fact, Michael was involved in a romance many years ago, back when he was a rising Chicago gangster, with now Cook County Circuit Court Judge Jill Cerone-Marisie.

The turn of the century marked a new horizon for Michael. For the first time in Michael’s life he fell in love. She was a tall beautiful blonde-haired woman. While Michael had known many beautiful women in his lifetime, this one was like no other. Aside from her breathtaking appearance and genuine good nature, this woman is the daughter of one of the richest men in America. Most people might think that her wealth was the attraction, and for those who believe this, they obviously do not know Michael.

The only problem for Michael is that the love of his life is a married woman. Michael accepted this fact, deciding that he would not let it bother him. Sadly, the situation only enhanced his already compromised position in life, and made Michael emotionally vulnerable.

While Michael has proven his love for this woman many times over, letting her return to her husband, the sad love story continues to pause. The whole ordeal has left Michael in an extremely depressed state.

Some may think that this former apprentice to one of the most powerful Mob Bosses in World History has degenerated into a lovesick fool. The twists and turns of life, combined with chance and circumstance, may shape us, but in the end it is how we act, in times good and bad, that tells our story. Michael chose his friends first, making enemies of powerful men. He chose love first, even though that road ultimately held little hope for true happiness.

If we all could say these things of ourselves, I think the world would be a much better place.

I am glad to say Michael Magnafichi is my pal. He is living proof that anyone, despite past problems, can make it in the world. My thoughts and prayers are always with him.
